10 Things About 2000s Movies That Everyone Misses Today

7. The Cinderella Archetype

In 2004, two separate movies came out both presenting very different renderings of the classic fairy tale Cinderella.

The first was the imaginatively titled A Cinderella Story, starring Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray. Duff plays a young woman tormented by a wicked stepmother who finds a kindred spirit in an online pen pal.

But gasp! When they meet at the school dance, she has a mask on! How will her love recognise her? What is a girl to do?

As for Ella Enchanted, that has Anne Hathaway heading things up in a more classical re-telling of the story. She plays a young woman who must navigate her own romance whilst also suffering from a magical curse that means she will obey any command given to her.

Both movies are firm favourites nowadays and lend a lot of support to the idea of a Cinderella revival in modern cinema. Sure, we got Into The Woods and the 2015 live-action Disney Cinderella, but has there really been a quirky rendition of this yarn to match the examples we've just given?

There has not, and to that we say Bippity Boppity BOOOOOOOOOOOO.
