6. Don't Use The Same Tired Themes Again And Again
'With great power comes great responsibility' is the single most important theme in the Spider-Man universe, driving the character on through his trials and tribulations. However, we've seen this explored in previous adaptations more than enough, as well as Peter wrestling with the burden his powers bring, so why don't future writers and directors use this fresh start as a chance to explore different themes? For a start, rather than showing a miserable Spider-Man struggling with his great power, why not explore what happens when Peter loves his abilities a little too much and actually tries to become stronger (he could even end up with four arms, as when he tried to rid himself of his powers in the comics)? Another potential idea is the military looking to replicate his abilities for their own gain, giving Spidey a different enemy to face than another costumed villain. As Iron Man 2 explored the dangers Stark sparked with his suit inspiring copycats without his morality, a movie based around military experimentation into Spider-Man's abilities would tap into the same theme of these superheroes indirectly posing as much threat to society as their villains. This is a major theme in Civil War, and plays on contemporary mistrust of how governments act in the name of defence.
