3. Sigourney Weaver Took Her Audition A Bit Too Seriously
After landing an audition for the part of Venkmans love-interest, Dana Barrett, it looks as though Sigourney Weaver may have taken things a bit too far when it comes to getting into character. Of course, Ghostbusters fans will remember that Dana's apartment was haunted by Zuul - a demonic servant of Gozer the Gozerian. And Dana soon found herself possessed by the spirit, leading to a final confrontation with the god of destruction itself. Eager to impress, Weaver decided to audition with a completely non-spoken scene. Instead, she acted out her transformation into one of Gozers grotesque terror dogs right there on the casting couch. I had to audition for Ivan, she said. I remember starting to growl and bark and gnaw on the cushions and jump around. Ivan cut the tape and said, Dont ever do that again. Needless to say, she landed the coveted role and went on to give a stellar performance as the troubled (and haunted) Dana Barrett. Just dont ever ask her about that audition.
