10 Things You Didn't Know About The Matrix

7. Sydney's Law Was Rewritten So They Could Shoot The Helicopter Scene

The rescue of Morpheus from Agent Smith and his associates is one of the greatest action sequences of all time. From the exceptionally staged lobby shoot-out through to the bullet time shot on the rooftop - which made everyone's jaw drop the first time they saw it - it proved that the Wachowskis have what it takes to direct flawless action. One impressive stunt, in which Morpheus holds onto Neo's hand whilst hanging from a rope underneath a helicopter, took more than just a combination of green screens for the close ups of the actors combined with stuntmen dangling over Sydney for real - the production team had to convince the Sydney authorities to rewrite the laws. Fortunately they agreed, and the sequence remains as great as always.
