10 Things Everybody Gets Wrong About The Marvel Cinematic Universe
5. The Villains Lack Substance & Are Essentially The Same As Each Other
There are widespread complaints about the villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. People say they are all bland and one-dimensional and are all pretty much alike, but this really isn't true. Can you really call Loki, Red Skull, the Winter Soldier and the Mandarin/Killian combination bland and one-dimensional (the latter was a terrible portrayal, yes, but bland and one-dimensional, no)? These are all very different characters, with different motives and personalities, portrayed by very talented actors. Granted, not all of the villains are well developed (Malekith, for example), but they are far from all like that. And can anyone really say that they're all the same? Anyone who thinks Obadiah Stane, the Abomination, Ronan, Loki and Justin Hammer are the same, for example, has a very warped definition of the word. It should also be noted that you can't really expect the villains to be as well developed as the heroes, because they aren't the stars. Barely anybody complains about that in other genre movie.
