10 Things Everyone Gets Wrong About The MCU

4. Doctor Strange Is The Sorcerer Supreme

Many Marvel fans refer to Doctor Strange as the Sorcerer Supreme when discussing his role in the cinematic universe, but this might be jumping the gun.

Benedict Cumberbatch's master of mysticism was never officially confirmed as the Ancient One's successor in this role, although he's certainly heading in that direction.

In the Marvel Universe, the outgoing Sorcerer Supreme formally hands the baton over to their successor, but Tilda Swinton's character died without naming her replacement. There's no evidence that Strange has stepped up to the plate since his solo outing.

The Ancient One has been known to make appearances from beyond the grave in the comic books, so perhaps she will officially name the good doctor as her successor in one of the forthcoming Avengers sequels or the next Doctor Strange movie.

Take note, Marvel, Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme would be a cool title for the character's next solo outing.
