10 Things We Expect To Happen In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

4. Doctor Strange Will Enter The MCU

Since the early years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there have been many heroes that the fans have been asking to see, but few have been championed as heavily as Marvel€™s favorite sorcerer Doctor Strange. Marvel, specifically producer Kevin Feige, has been teasing us about Doctor Strange hitting the big screen eventually, and all that€™s left is for the official announcement to come out. Most of the Phase 3 movies haven€™t been announced, but it€™s likely that Doctor Strange will be one of the entries. Also, with Robert Downey Jr.€™s eventual Marvel retirement, there€™s speculation that Strange will replace Iron Man as the MCU€™s headlining/trademark character. There€™s been one specific concern with how Doctor Strange would be adapted, and it€™s the same thing that arose when Thor was in production: the use of magic. Despite the MCU being a fantastical place with gigantic green monsters, men in armored suits and anthropomorphic raccoons, everything has had a €œscientific€ explanation to it. With Thor, Asgardian technology wasn€™t based in magic, but rather science that was far beyond what we have on Earth. With Doctor Strange, however, this could be a problem. He€™s always been the Master of the Mystic Arts, and the forces he calls upon are intentionally supernatural and unexplainable to science. Feige recently compared Strange€™s magic to quantum physics and specifically brought up what€™s being shown in the TV series Cosmos. He said, €œIf somebody knew how to tap into that stuff, what€™s the difference between that and magic?€ Time will tell how Doctor Strange€™s abilities will be adapted for the silver screen, but regardless, Marvel won€™t be able to fall back on their science explanation quite as easily.
