10 Things Hotly Anticipated Films Need To Get Right In 2016

6. Finding Dory Needs To Find A Way To Make Sure Dory Doesn't Get Irritating

Finding Dory is the most recent in an increasingly long line of Pixar sequels. Specifically, it's a sequel to 2003's Finding Nemo, a wonderful film about a clown fish that is captured by fishers and separated from his father. In that film, we meet the incredibly memorable Dory, a clumsy blue fish that suffers from amnesia.

Finding Dory, then, is set to centre on Dory, and the quest she goes on to find her family. One of the film's greatest obstacles, however, is finding a way to make a film that centres on Dory not become incredibly annoying. Dory's forgetfulness in Nemo is more charming and funny than frustrating (though it is that too), but in a narrative that revolves entirely around Dory, the joke could grow very old very fast. If the film wants to succeed, then, and keep Dory likeable while also staying true to the character, it needs to surround Dory with a great cast of characters. The film might be about Dory's journey to find her family, but as long as there are plenty of other interesting fish accompanying Dory on her quest, things will hopefully remain fresh long enough that Dory herself doesn't drag the film down into the depths of repeated €œwhere are we going again?€ gags.
