10 Things We Learned From The Super Bowl Trailers

6. Whoever Directed This Promo Needs To Direct The Show (24: Live Another Day)

The new 12-part mini-series of 24 has only been filming in London for a few short weeks, but the Super Bowl saw the debut of several small teasers, leading up to this super-slick, 50-second promo for the new series, which shows Jack Bauer and Chloe O'Brian walking away from an exploded London taxi and heading towards the screen before Jack pulls his pistol and fires at an unseen assailant. The fantastic camerawork (it's a single take) and intense atmosphere of the shot is far more inventive and clever than the majority of the camerawork on the show itself (unsurprising considering the tight deadlines they have to work to), and it simply made me think: who directed this promo, and why aren't they working on the show? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo4_r5RlBII It may very well be that a 24 regular like Jon Cassar did in fact direct the promo, and the simple truth is that more effort was put into the dynamic cinematography because it's a promo, but wouldn't it be great if the show had more creative camerawork like this rather than the relatively generic coverage we get in normal episodes of the show?
