10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About The MCU

7. Loki's Ever-Changing Abilities

Speaking of Loki's abilities, it is clear that Marvel wants you to forget many of them exist. In the post-credits scene from Thor, Loki is revealed to be controlling Dr. Selvig. Except there'ss no sceptre, and Selvig doesn't have the blue eyes that he and Hawkeye have when they are controlled by Loki in The Avengers, so what's the deal? If Loki is able to influence people without the sceptre, then why does he need it at all? One could argue the sceptre gives him control of a person's mind indefinitely (at least until they receive a blow to the head), but then why doesn't he use his original mind-control ability more often? Like when his sceptre doesn't work on Tony in Stark Tower. That would have been a great time to use it. And then there's a scene in Thor: The Dark World, where you see Loki turn into Captain America and turn Thor into Sif. This scene is played for laughs, but it has some serious implications on the rest of the universe. How did Loki acquire this ability? Did he learn it in his jail in Asgard? If not, then he must have already had it before he was captured at the end of The Avengers, which means he could have used it during the battle itself. Why didn't he just turn into Captain America, punch the hell out of Tony Stark, and then run away and watch the two go at it? Or why didn't he turn Thor into a Chitauri so Hulk would beat the crap out of him? These mind control and shape-shifting abilities alone make Loki practically unstoppable, and since he is rumored to return in Thor: Ragnarok, you'll probably have to forget they exist if you hope to enjoy the film.

Yes, my last name is pronounced exactly as it's spelled. Just like "going to the store". ;) I am an aspiring writer currently working on my first novel, which is GOING to be awesome once it's published. (See what I did there?) I love reading, am a HUGE film buff (who welcomes all trivia challenges), and never miss a New York Giants football game. I'm an open book so if there is anything else you'd like to know about me, just ask.
