10 Things You Need To Know About Guardians Of The Galaxy

10. It's Not A Star Wars Rip-Off

The team behind Guardians of the Galaxy had to bat constant accusations that the film is a blatant rip-off of Star Wars. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige had to defend himself and said;
€œWe€™re not making this to make Marvel€™s Star Wars. We€™re doing this to explore the other side of the existing Marvel Universe. The fact that Peter Quill is a human from our time, that he carries a personal cassette recorder with him, already it€™s very different. It€™s not a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, it€™s now in a galaxy far, far away,€
But anyone who is not familiar with the comics, you can see why people might see a bunch of aliens on a space adventure in their version of the Millennium Falcon and think that it all looks a bit like another franchise but all the characters predate Star Wars. Star-Lord appeared in Marvel Preview #4 in 1976. Rocket Raccoon in Marvel Preview #7 in 1976. Gamora in Strange Tales #180 in 1975 Drax the Destroyer and Thanos in Iron Man #55 in 1973.
Groot first appeared in Tales to Astonish #13 in 1960 and he had the ability to talk in full sentences. So to make it fair, here is Star Wars redone in the style of Guardians of the Galaxy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLyNMSkTiGg
