9. Tom Hardy Is Your New Max

With Mel Gibson aging out and going through a very public downfall, a new Max was required - although taking the focus off of Max and bringing in another character was considered for a while. When cooler heads prevailed, however, re-casting the part was necessary. Eventually, the job went to English actor Tom Hardy, who was announced as the new Max all the way back in 2009. That's right, before he was Bane, he was already Mad Max. Hardy has shown a lot of versatility as an actor. Besides The Dark Knight Rises, he has been part of Inception, Warrior, Bronson, and Sucker Punch, among other films. Bronson, in particular, was a fantastic performance by Hardy.
