10 Things In Star Wars Already Dumber Than The New Lightsaber
10. Replacing Old Vader With Hayden Christensen (And All The Other "Tweaks" Lucas Made)
Picking "Greedo shoots first" would have been too easy, but you can include that here as well. The dumbest part of the original Star Wars trilogy has very little to do with the original Star Wars trilogy, and everything to do with its mastermind becoming more and more obsessed with "tweaking" the films. Over the years Lucas has been making little changes to the point where the movies started to face ridicule over things like Han being updated for a more politically correct time (we can't have an anti-hero in a film this big with the kiddies!) and R2-D2 somehow managing to move through a rock wall due to shoddy editing of a scene that didn't need changing in the first place. This issue would rank higher up in the light of dumb things in the Star Wars world were it not for the fact that the changes are almost universally reviled. Still, a particularly low point was editing in actor Hayden Christensen, who portrayed Anakin Skywalker in Episodes II and III, into Return Of The Jedi, as a Force ghost, replacing the older Anakin portrayed by actor Sebastian Shaw in the original version. Not only was it an insult to a respected actor, it made no sense, since Anakin, by then Vader, did not die until he was much older.
