10 Things That Happen In Movies That Piss You Off

1. Cutting A Hand To Draw Blood

Pretty much any time a character is required to draw blood in a movie, whether to fulfill a pact or for other plot-related reasons, they'll use a blade to cut their open palm.

It's a howling visual cliche at this point and has been for many years now, yet it's surprisingly still used so commonly in movies as recently as It Chapter One (admittedly, in that case, the blood oath members also join hands to seal the pact).

But beyond being a tired trope, it just makes no sense at all: your hand is one of the most useful and versatile parts of your body, such that it's an extremely silly location from which to create a prominent cut.

There are 17,000 touch receptors and free nerve endings in a palm, making them incredibly sensitive to pain.

There are far meatier, less-sensitive areas of the body to draw blood in a pinch, none of which will be nearly as debilitating as cutting your hand.
