10 Things That Happen In Movies That Piss You Off

8. Nobody Ever Says Goodbye On The Phone

Movies are notoriously terrible at depicting realistic phone conversations, from the fact that nobody ever overlaps with or interrupts anybody else - whether due to poor manners or a spotty connection - and nobody ever, ever says goodbye. Rude.

Look at just about any movie phone call and the characters will typically hang up the phone without any sort of parting salutation, as though it's the most natural thing in the world.

In real life this would be considered pretty damn rude to a Chinese takeaway let alone a close friend or family member, and while it's generally done in the name of efficient storytelling, it does nevertheless remind us that we're watching something detached, however subtly, from reality.

If this happened in real life, there's a good chance you'd assume the connection had been dropped, or at least think the hanger-upper was being pretty damn rude.

Are those precious two seconds of saved screen time really worth the strange immersion-shattering effect they generate in audiences?
