10 Things To Expect From Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4
7. A New "Godfather" Of The MCU
Though Kevin Feige oversees the entirety of the MCU, it's safe to say that Joss Whedon was the franchise's first "Godfather", not only writing and directing both Avengers movies but providing creative input on most other films between the two, thanks to his immense comic book knowledge and penchant for quick-witted dialogue.
Whedon eventually burned out, though, and the reins then went to Anthony and Joe Russo, who after the release of both Infinity War movies will have filmed four huge MCU films over the course of five years. It'd be surprising if they weren't feeling a little worn out after the fourth Avengers movie hits cinemas, and though they could feasibly continue, they also might want to take a break and let another filmmaker jump in.
The possibilities are pretty much endless in terms of filmmakers who would gladly take up their mantle (James Gunn might be the obvious choice, at least for a while), but with Phase 4 presumably running from 2019-2024 (or thereabouts), the Russos will surely need a breather at some point, and who can blame them?
