10 Things Wrong With Jupiter Ascending

1. It Might Stop The Wachowskis From Making More Blockbusters

The saddest thing that could come out of all of this is that the Wachowskis don't get to make big-budget movies anymore. This is the third time in a row that they've been given a huge budget to make a movie and it's flopped (following Street Racer and Cloud Atlas), and it wouldn't surprise anyone if it was the last one they got. Jupiter Ascending's failure could result in the Wachowskis being banished from filmmaking on this scale, having to pare their visions back significantly to, say, $50 or $60 million (where going bust is much less likely), which would be a massive shame. Though their last three films have been hit-and-miss with audiences, each was at least more interesting than your standard Hollywood blockbuster flop, and indicated that, if they allowed someone else to write their scripts, perhaps they might have a winner on their hands. Alternatively, they probably owe Warner a Matrix sequel after three consecutive busts, so maybe they should just give in and get that done to earn some more goodwill for another original sci-fi flick. Have you seen Jupiter Ascending yet? What did you think? Shout it out in the comments!
