10 Things You Can Expect From Ben Affleck's Batman Movie

5. A Smattering Of Comedy

Jokes are 'banned' from the DCCU - that's the rumour, anyway, the decision apparently part of DC and Warner Bros's attempt to differentiate the DCCU from the more lighthearted MCU. Whether it's true or not, Man Of Steel was self-serious and entirely laugh-free, and Batman V Superman - from what's been revealed so far - only looks to be more of the same. Based on Ben Affleck's work as director to date (especially Argo, which is as much a Hollywood satire as it is a thriller), The Batman could feature a bit of extra comedy if it comes under Affleck's control. Now the DCCU is said to be taking a more director-led approach, it's possible the 'joke ban' no longer applies - and that Affleck can take whatever tonal approach he likes. God knows the DCCU could use some humour, more specifically dark humour, which Affleck has so far dealt in, leavening weighty themes with much-needed gags. It could make The Batman unlike any other Batman movie to date - something dark and heavy that isn't afraid to also sneak some laughs in.
