10 Things You Didn't Know About Darth Maul

2. He Blinks Just Three Times

Star Wars The Phantom Menace Darth Maul Blink

Ray Park had to wear coloured contact lenses to play Darth Maul, and due to the discomfort of the special lenses, he attempted to minmise blinking, which only helped contribute to the character's creepy presence.

There's a lot of debate online about whether he blinks once or twice in the entire movie, but the actual answer is three times. Firstly, we blinks when his double-sided lightsaber is cut in half by Obi-Wan, then a second time as Obi-Wan's lightsaber slices through him, and a third and final time as he registers what's just happened to him.

There are message boards online full of fans debating the blink count, but it's definitely three.
