It's a tough job breaking into the acting world full-time. Most actors never get regular work, and those that do are resigned to the world of bit parts and extras. While trying to bag bigger roles, one of the ways Redmayne supported himself was through modelling (spare a thought for all the struggling actors whose lacking cheekbones would never allow such luxury).

Redmayne debuted as a Burberry model in 2008, running a campaign with Alex Pettyfer, an English model and actor known for his roles in Magic Mike and I Am Number Four. He also modelled with Cara Delevingne, another model trying to transition to the world of acting.

Amusingly, one of Redmayne's earliest modelling gigs was for a line of knitted versions of traditional items of clothing, including a knitted, zip-up sports jacket.
