10 Things You Didn't Know About Emily VanCamp

1. Her First Role Was As Jackie Kennedy

Sure, playing a Marvel character is a pretty big deal now that comics have eaten popular culture. And admittedly, even a loose adaptation of The Count Of Monte Cristo must come with a degree of pressure, a weight on the shoulders to match up to the source material and all previous versions of the character that have appeared over the years. But VanCamp was used to that pressure from very early on. From the very beginning, in fact, since her first ever acting role (at least, in front of a camera in something that got a commercial release ie not a student film or whatever) was as a 13-year-old Jackie O in the 2000 TV movie Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. Based on Donald Spoto€™s biography of the same name, Wolf Hall€™s Joanne Whalley played Mrs JFK in her later years, the young VanCamp played Jackie O in her tweenage years as a quiet, mysterious type. A bit like Effy from Skins, if she could afford better clothes and there was something to her performance besides not talking a lot.
