10 Things You Didn’t Know About Independence Day

3. Its Deleted Scenes Are Actually Important

Most of the time, when you're watching deleted scenes you can tell why they were cut: they don't normally add anything important. This isn't the case with some of the deleted scenes from Independence Day, which actually fill in some important details that explain otherwise illogical moments in the film.

For one, when Russell (the zany pilot chap who was previously-meddled-with-by-aliens, played by Randy Quaid) arrives at the military base, a deleted scene shows him looking for a doctor to treat his young companion Miguel. He states that he has a problem with his adrenal cortex, explaining why Miguel was violently ill earlier in the movie (which goes completely un-clarified in the theatrical cut of the film).

Additionally, it's explained why Jasmine (Vivica A. Fox) went to work at the strip club when she previously stated that she was meant to be off work. The extra scene explains that she went in to pick up her paycheque, but got talked into working. Her son is waiting for her in the manager's office.

So, there you go, two logical errors in the film that you probably had never previously thought about, cleared up by deleted scenes
