10 Things You Didn't Know About Jason Voorhees

7. He's Fought Leatherface And Ash

Jason Voorhees
DC Comics

In 1995, Topps Comics published Jason Vs Leatherface, a three-issue comic book written by Nancy A Collins and David Imhoff. Prefiguring the later Freddy Vs Jason movie, the comic doesn’t really fit the timeline of either franchise, the meeting of the two titans lacks any credibility (Jason boards a train to Texas for oh some reason) and there’s no clear winner after their climactic confrontation (Jason is knocked out, allowing Leatherface to escape).

Speaking of Freddy Vs Jason, an original treatment for that film (written by Jeff Katz) forms the basis for Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash, a six-issue comic published by Wildstorm and Dynamite Entertainment in 2007. Written by James Kuhoric, the story follows Ash (from the Evil Dead movies) as he starts a new position at the Crystal Lake branch of S-Mart, where he mistakenly believes a recent murder to be the work of the deadites.

It’s actually the work of Jason, who is attempting to stop Freddy from getting his hands on the Necronomicon, which will restore him with new reality-altering powers. In their final confrontation, Jason’s former victims are resurrected by Freddy as deadites and an epic battle begins before Ash traps Jason beneath Crystal Lake and sends Freddy to the deadite world.

And that, horror movie fans, is the Freddy Vs Jason movie we should’ve got.
