10 Things You Didn't Know About Jaws

8. Murray Hamilton was Attacked by a Skunk During Production

One of the more bizarre stories to come from the making of Jaws is that of a fateful night which befell actor Murray Hamilton. After a busy day of portraying Amity€™s mayor Larry Vaughn, Hamilton went for a delightful evening stroll back to his hotel in the picturesque island of Martha€™s Vineyard. During his travels, Hamilton encountered a docile creature sitting nonchalantly on a fence and rather unfortunately mistook it for a fluffy cat. Sadly, the stinky truth was soon uncovered as Hamilton was greeted with a potent spray from the creature€™s anal glands. Having suffered an attack from something far worse than a mechanical shark, Hamilton wandered back to his hotel in a dazed and confused state. In fact, the smell from the Skunk€™s attack was so unpleasant that his clothes were burned the following day. Luckily he wasn€™t wearing Mayor Vaughn€™s rather fetching anchor covered blazer.
