10 Things You Didn't Know About Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2

5. Gordon Liu Plays Multiple Characters Across Both Films

Gordon Liu Kill Bill One actor playing multiple characters in a single film isn't unheard of in cinema, but while most examples of dual roles are usually quite obvious and intentionally so (Dr. Strangelove is an obvious example), Gordon Liu's characters in both of the Kill Bill films make him look so different that you would never have guessed that both Johnny Mo and Pai Mei are played by Liu. All you'd really have to do to make the connection is watch the end credits of both films, but considering most people have already barged their way out of the cinema by the time the credits roll for any given film, a lot of people just wouldn't have noticed. Going off of appearance alone though, it's hardly surprising that many people missed the connection. Johnny Mo is a bald Yakuza member with a mask covering his eyes for a start. Not only that, but Pai Mei is an ageing kung fu master with a flowing beard and bushy eyebrows. The appearances of both characters are just wildly different. Excuse us while we go and re-watch every film we've ever seen - we have a sneaking suspicion that it wasn't Alan Rickman that played the baddie in Die Hard, but Bruce Willis in a shed-load of make-up.
