10 Things You Learn Re-Watching Alien

Alien's production design is nothing short of marvelous, with H.R. Giger contributing a distinctly erotic sensibility to the film's locations and also the alien creatures themselves.

For instance, when the crew first enters the derelict spaceship, the openings quite clearly resemble vaginas. Then there's the aperture doors on the Nostromo which resemble anuses, the obviously vaginal implications of the facehugger, and the phallic shape of the adult Xenomorph's head.

It all adds up to make the experience that much more visceral and disquieting, but it's easily missed if you're the type of person who doesn't have their head in the gutter.
