10 Things You Need To Know About Mission: Impossible 5

10. It Has A New Release Date

Mission: Impossible 5 was originally scheduled to be released in the US on December 25th. That tends to be a good slot for many films, and certainly worked out well for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol back in 2011. However, there's one big difference this year; that date means it would reach cinemas just seven days after J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens does, a movie it's not hard to imagine staying at #1 right through the New Year. Mission: Impossible 5 didn't budge for a while, but Paramount ultimately saw sense (there's every chance it could have still done well, but Star Wars would have taken a huge chunk from its final haul). Luckily for fans of the franchise, it hasn't been delayed though. It will instead be earlier released on July 31st, and while it's surrounded by big releases like Ant-Man and Fantastic Four, the movie now stands a much better chance of being a hit.
