9. What Ever Happened To Mike Modest And Tony Jones?
One of the central stories of Beyond the Mat is Roland Alexander's All Pro Wrestling and the wrestling hopes and dreams of Mike Modest and Tony Jones.
Modest and Jones got to partake in a WWF tryout match during Beyond the Mat, but how did things play out for the pair once the cameras stopped rolling?
For Modest, he at one point admitted how he might be more suited to Japan rather than the North American wrestling scene. Did he ever get to Japan? Indeed, he did. Not long after Beyond the Mat, Modest would actually end up signing with WCW. Unfortunately, he would be one of those released once the company was purchased by the then-WWF - but it was then that Modest had the chance to work for Pro Wrestling Noah. Modest would go on to work for IMPACT Wrestling, Ring of Honor, AAA, and Stampede Wrestling, and he was also one of those involved in NBC's Exposed! Pro Wrestling's Greatest Secrets.
As for 'The Shooter' Tony Jones, the match from Beyond the Mat led to him being invited to a Tom Prichard-led WWF training camp later that year, and over the next few years he worked several times as an enhancement talent for the company - most recently as 2007, where he lost matches to both Eugene and Gene Snitsky.
APW itself is still in business to this day, although owner Roland Alexander sadly passed away in 2013 at the age of 59.
