10 Things You Only Notice Rewatching Snyder's DCEU Movies

3. Gotham University Suck At Football

This one is more of a thematic recurrence than it is an out and out detail, but the connection is something you might not notice the first time around. In Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, we see got them University take on Metropolis in a (American) football game. They lose. Badly.

One possible reason for this is that Gotham are missing their star player; one Victor Stone a.k.a. Cyborg. Though not introduced as a character before this point, we know later that Cyborg’s injuries occurred around this time. The accident which ultimately made him Cyborg might have been the same one that kept him out of the game.

Without Stone, Gotham suck.

There are actually a few mentions of football within Batman Vs Superman, far more than you’d expect from a movie not about the sport in any way. Not so many that it feels like overkill, but certainly enough that you’d pick up on a rewatch.

These were likely planting the seed for Cyborg’s arrival, which came in Snyder’s next DCEU flick, Justice League. A nice little nod to the future linked in with all of these nods to prior works.
