5. We Almost Got A Dumbo Sequel
Amongst the plethora of direct to DVD Disney sequels in the early 2000s, there was a Dumbo follow up movie in the works.
The plot of the film took place one day after the events of the original. It involved Dumbo and a group of other baby animals getting lost in New York City, in which they would all journey back to the circus. It would explain the whereabouts and backstory of his father, Mr Jumbo. Casey Junior, Timothy Q. Mouse and Mrs Jumbo were going to make a return for the second movie, as well as a whole new group of characters, including Penny the Ostrich, Godfry the Hippo and Dot the Zebra.
Dumbo II was planned to be released in 2001, on the sixtieth anniversary of the first movie, but ended up being delayed for five years and eventually cancelled by the Walt Disney Animation Studios' new CEO John Lasseter.
