10 Time We Absolutely Believed The Movie Hero Was A Goner
1. Everyone – Toy Story 3
Look, we all know Toy Story is a kids movie. Not only that, Woody is regarded as Pixar's mascot. Because of this, it would've been crazy if Toy Story 3, concluded with the gang meeting their end.
And yet, that's exactly what everyone believed while watching THAT climax! After Woody and his friends are taken to a landfill, they desperately evade being crushed by the shredder.
As the conveyor belt transports them to the end of the room, they see a light, which they mistake for the sun. But when they get closer, they realise they're about to enter the incinerator.
As the toys try to avoid being melted alive, they notice Lotso is near the deactivation switch. Although the devious teddy was their enemy, you expect Lotso to help since Woody saved him a few minutes prior.
Instead, Lotso walks off, seemingly giving Woody's group no means to escape. After entering the incineration room, Woody, Buzz, Slinky, Bullseye, Hamm, Jesse, the Potato Heads, and Rex stop struggling and join hands, accepting their fate.
In moments like this, parents would reassure their children with sentiments like, "It's only a movie," and "They'll be fine." But during this scene, most people watched on in silence, feeling all hope draining from their bodies, much like the characters.
Thankfully, the Aliens showed up in the nick of time and use the industrial crane to save their friends.
This last-minute rescue may feel a little cheap, but it was the right decision since viewers would've never emotionally recovered after watching some of their favourite animated characters being melted alive.
