10 Times Actors Were Edited Out Of Movies

9. Kevin Spacey - All The Money In The World

In light of sexual misconduct allegations levelled against the actor in late 2017, Kevin Spacey's role in crime thriller All The Money In The World was edited into non-existence, and he was replaced by Christopher Plummer.

The fact that Spacey had landed himself in serious trouble meant that the film was essentially doomed: the buzz around it was now entirely negative, its box-office prospects looked shaky at best, and its premiere at the AFI Festival on November 16 was cancelled.

So, in an incredible feat of determination, organisation, and pure filmmaking skill, director Ridley Scott edited Spacey out of the film, brought Plummer onboard, re-shot all of Spacey's scenes, and spliced them seamlessly into the rest of the film - literally weeks before it was set to premiere.

The most impressive thing here is that you can't even tell any of this happened. Aside from some obvious green screen work in one brief scene, the new scenes fit into the rest of the film perfectly, with no pacing issues, tonal issues, or continuity issues of any kind.
