Jessica Chastain probably isn't too bothered about this one, considering that The Death And Life Of John F. Donovan currently holds a 13% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Maybe the film would have been better if she was in it? Who knows.

The movie premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, with many critics labelling it an incoherent mess. The fact that director Xavier Dolan delayed its release (it was originally set to premiere in late 2017) so he could extensively rework the story was an indicator that things weren't shaping up, and it was during this process that Chastain's character was lost in the mix.

On his Instagram page, Dolan said that he felt Chastain's part needed to be cut, explaining that her subplot just didn't mesh well with the rest of the story. Like Woodley, Chastain responded well to this news (also on Instagram), stating that she was informed about Dolan's decision ahead of time, and that she has the utmost respect for the director.

Chastain wasn't the only one to be chopped, either: while interviewing Bella Thorne, Vulture noted that her scenes had also been removed from the film.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
