10 Times Alfred Pennyworth Utterly DESTROYED Batman

8. Batman Begins - Alfred Picks A Questionable Time To Critique Bruce's Fitness Regimen

Batman Begins tells the tale of, well, Batman beginning. The 2005 Christopher Nolan movie introduces us to Christian Bale's raspy-voiced Dark Knight and his origin.

During the movie, Bruce becomes entangled with the League of Shadows, an ancient group who believes that the only way to save humanity is to occasionally destroy places that have become so dark and corrupt that they are beyond saving.

Like, say, Gotham City.

During a lavish party at Wayne Manor, the League infiltrates the house and League leader Ra's al Ghul confronts Bruce. After throwing a pretend drunken tantrum to get rid of his guests, Bruce and the League get down to business. As part of the ensuing chaos, a fire breaks out and Bruce becomes trapped under a fallen beam.

Master Wayne and Alfred lift, but can't budge the beam. Knowing what needs to be done, Alfred pricks at Bruce's ego with the classic line, "What is the point of all those push-ups if you can't even lift a bloody log?" Incredulous at Alfred's attitude and wit, even as death surrounds them, Bruce puts those many push ups to work and moves the beam.

An amazing physique, one that allows him to compete with literal gods, has always been one of Batman's best tools. Leave it to Alfred to bring it to bear when the moment called for it.
