10 Times Batman Acted Like A Horror Movie Villain

1. The Train Scene - Batman Begins

The infamous final moments of the contest between Ra's al Ghul and Batman in Batman Begins have been a point of contention for Batman fans since the film's release in 2005.

After foiling his nemesis' plans to drive the citizens of Gotham insane with the Scarecrow's fear toxin, Batman and Ghul are trapped on an elevated train heading toward a fallen track. At this point, Batman has Ghul completely at his mercy, but has taken a solemn vow not to kill. Before the train crashes, Batman informs Ghul that he won't kill him but he also doesn't have to save him. Batman flies away and leaves Ghul helpless on the train, effectively murdering him.

Fans debate whether Batman broke his one rule by leaving Ghul to his fate or if Batman's clever wordplay absolved him of any responsibility for his part in Ghul's ultimate demise. Depending on how you interpret the scene, Batman either comes across as a blameless hero or a coldblooded remorseless killer that sends his victim off with a Freddy Krueger-style quip that drives his ruthlessness home.

This last example depends on the prism through which the viewer interprets it, but for those that believe Batman murdered Ghul, this may be Batman at his most dark and psychotic.
