6. Daniel Craig - The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn
In Steven Spielberg's thrilling telling of Tintin adventure The Secret Of The Unicorn, Daniel Craig gets the chance to play not one villain, but two: Red Rackham, murderous pirate, in flashbacks, as well as his descendant, Ivan Ivanovitch Sakharine, for the bulk of the movie. The most immediately noticeable thing about Sakharine, other than the fact that he looks uncannily like Steven Spielberg, is how Craig appears to relish disappearing into the role of a complete swine. It's animation, so Craig is quite literally playing a cartoon villain, and through the layers of CGI you can just about see the actor having to hold himself back from twirling his moustache. As a Tintin-capturing, cane-sporting, crane-operating menace, Craig appears to be having just about the most fun he's ever had here. He even gets to yargh it up as a pirate captain, and make Andy Serkis and his drunken Scottish accent seem subtle by comparison.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
