2. Captain America - The Avengers
The costumes for Marvel's Avengers have been almost universally awesome so far, both within the ensemble films and the standalone entries, but Captain America's look in The Avengers is the notable exception. It's just hideous, wrapping Steve Rogers in what is best described derogatively as a 'costume' that looks like it's made entirely out of wipe-down surfaces. Combined with the seemingly velcro fastenings, silver decals and big plasticky star, Cap looks more like an Action Man figure of himself than a genuine living legend. The terribleness of the costume is even more baffling considering how well Cap's look has been realised both before and since, with a greater emphasis on the more practical military style we saw in The First Avenger carrying over into Winter Soldier, Age Of Ultron and next year's Civil War. Thankfully it makes the Avengers action figure look a rare stumble in Marvel's handling of its heroes, albeit one that's genuinely starting to affect enjoyment of the film.
