10 Times People Died While Watching Movies

9. A Man Overdosed During The Beauty And The Beast Remake

Disney's live-action remake of their animated classic didn't make quite as much money as Avatar, but it was still a huge box-office success, raking in over $1 billion by the end of its run. But right at the start of its run, a tragedy occurred in an AMC theatre in Ohio, where one patron succumbed to an overdose and died.

In March 2017, Clinton Township Police responded to urgent calls regarding a man who had passed out in a theatre while watching a teatime screening of Beauty And The Beast. Reportedly, a theatre employee stated that the man had thrown up, and nobody was able to wake him, and he died of a suspected overdose soon after.

It's not clear exactly what he overdosed on, but it wouldn't have been difficult to sneak a bottle of pills, or something like that, into a theatre. Not that we have experience in that area.
