7. John Garrett

John Garrett - a S.H.I.E.L.D. turncoat agent who had joined HYDRA - had finally found the drug required to keep him alive, despite his faltering bionic implants. He interrupted the tour of the Cybertek facility that Ian Quinn was giving to members of the United States Armed Forces and killed General Jacobs before confronting Phil Coulson in his new powerful form. During the conflict - in which Coulson was armed with the Destroyer Armour gun that he wielded against Loki in the Avengers movie - Mike Peterson learned that his son had been freed and that he no longer needed to serve Garrett. As a result, he launched his forearm rocket launcher at the maniac, taking him down, before crushing him with his super-strong bionic leg. As a result, Garrett appeared to be dead. Soon after, however, he was revealed to be alive and he used a machine to replace his damaged body parts with more cybernetics. However, immediately after this "resurrection", unlike every other character in this list, he actually was permanently killed by Coulson using the 0-8-4.
