A favourite series of many, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has brought laughter, drama and tears to the viewing public. Johnny Depp has created one of the most original and identifiable characters in Hollywood history with his portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow.

Starring alongside Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly, the 2003 debut of The Curse of the Black Pearl won over twenty awards in categories such as choreography, hair and make-up, individual performance and even sexiest hero to Bloom from the Mexican MTV awards.

What it failed to win an award in, though, is the video editing.

You would like to think that a stereotypical pirate's outfit is fairly standard garb: dirty dusters, bandannas, belts and baldrics, open-chest shirts etc. Aboard his ship, the Black Pearl, the camera shows Jack operating the steering wheel, and directly behind him appears to be a member of his crew admiring the ocean views whilst rocking a muscle-fit white t-shirt, aviator sunglasses and a cowboy hat.

While we can all appreciate this style icon, maybe he should have gone and enjoyed the views somewhere behind the camera.
