10 Top Actors Who Turned Down Prestigious Awards
6. Ving Rhames Gives Away His Golden Globe
This act of dedication from acclaimed actor Ving Rhames speaks to how despite the superfluous nature of the business, some only seek to celebrate the industry as opposed to themselves.
At the 1997 Golden Globes, after winning the Best Actor in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television award for his work in Don King: Only in America, Rhames walked to the podium in a state of overwhelming emotion. This clearly meant a lot to the phenomenal actor, and watching his reaction was heart-warming.
However, once receiving the trophy in a show of true humility, Rhames invited Jack Lemmon - another nominee and legendary actor - to the stage and gifted the award to him.
Whilst this won't count in the record books, it is beautiful to see someone who loves what they do so much that they are willing to give away their own recognition to honour their idols. A true display of class from Rhames here made for one of the best moments in any award show.
