10 Toughest Dilemmas In Horror Movies
3. How Much Food Would You Eat? - The Platform
Netflix's cult Spanish horror film The Platform takes place in a bizarre, prison-like structure where inmates reside on one of several-hundred floors and are fed by a platform which descends down through the floors.
Those lucky enough to be living at the top get to eat as much as they like, while those on the bottom are naturally left with the dregs. The inhabitants are moved to a different floor every month, theoretically letting them experience both excess and deprivation.
And so, depending on which floor your end up on, a dilemma arises - precisely how much do you eat? In theory there's plenty of food to feed everyone in the prison, and if everyone was willing to simply eat their reasonable share, all would be decently fed.
Yet intense paranoia over getting your "fair share" makes it tough to gauge precisely how much to eat - if food is abundant, should you gorge yourself, or consume modestly to ensure those below you can eat also?
The answer may seem obvious, but when your livelihood literally hinges on the whims of those above you playing ball, it's easy to just start looking out for number one, and gorge yourself to ensure you won't risk starving anytime soon.
Or just screw all that and turn to cannibalism, if you're like some of the characters in the movie.
