The Tragic Ending: Whats in the baaaaaaax? What indeed, Detective Mills (Brad Pitt) - after a serial killer known only as John Doe (Kevin Spacey) has spent the whole movie executing people in gruesome ways that reference the seven deadly sins, its inconceivable that hed do something like turn himself in and mail a package to the investigating officer with his wifes head inside. Except thats exactly what he does. Having covered gluttony, greed, sloth, lust and pride already, Doe sticks Tracy Millss disembodied melon inside a box and has it delivered to her husband as a display of envy. Detective Mills then shoots John Doe in the head, which inside Does ridiculous mind is a sign of wrath, the final item on his list. The Silver Lining: John Doe is never going to harm another soul. For one, there are no sins left for him to cover, and secondly hes dead, so the likelihood of him killing more people in inventively horrible ways ever again is very slim.
