For all of the hope and joy this galaxy far, far away has provided over the decades, it's also a place that has continually found a way to traumatise its fans.
The horrific way a certain Chosen One was fried alive, the blowing up of entire planets, or even the sudden death of a beloved Jedi Master are just a few of the infamous times when Star Wars got dark and left us needing a minute (or 10) to recover.
Those painful moments were merely the tip of the iceberg, though.
When you really dig into the history and lore of Star Wars, you'll discover even more disturbing and shocking facts that will change the way you view everything from brave soldiers to powerful Force users forever.
Once you hear the following creepy, terrifying, or devastating details about droids, dark lords, and depressed rocks, there's a good chance you'll wish you never clicked on this article. But by then it'll be too late, folks, with the traumatising - but still quite fascinating - information already being scorched into your innocent mind.
You've been warned - these 10 entries are about to leave you well and truly devastated, heartbroken, or stunned.
This is where the pain begins...
10. You Can See Dooku's Decapitated Head If You Look Closely Enough
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith wasted no time when it came to scarring its audience, with Anakin Skywalker brutally decapitating Count Dooku within the opening 10 minutes.
Christopher Lee's terrified face as his secret master demanded The Chosen One to "do it!" and the brief shot of the Sith Lord's head rolling along the floor both left audiences stunned early on.
And if all that wasn't traumatising enough, it turns out that George Lucas secretly left another unquestionably grim detail in this scene.
Watch closely as Palpatine tries to get Anakin to leave a knocked-out Obi-Wan Kenobi behind shortly after the Dooku death, and you can actually clearly see the remains of the former Jedi.
It's not just Darth Tyranus' head that's on show here either, his recently severed hands are also visible next to his lifeless body on the ground.
The final prequel is undeniably the darkest of Lucas' trilogy, and the only one of those films to earn a PG-13 rating. But this is a subtle and quite shocking visual that wouldn't have looked out of place in the background of a scene in an R-rated feature.
