10 Trippiest Horror Movies Of All Time

1. Tetsuo: The Iron Man

And finally, we have literally and figuratively the most metal horror movie ever made, Tetsuo The Iron Man.

Shinya Tsukamoto's all-timer body horror masterpiece is like nothing else out there, revolving around a Japanese salaryman (Tomorowo Taguchi) who progressively becomes a nightmarish fusion of man and machine.

At just 67 minutes in length, Tsukamoto's film wastes no time at all diving headlong into a madcap vision of bodily reconstruction - one that's at once deeply unpleasant to watch and yet near-impossible not to look at once it's started.

The low budget and scrappy production only further lends Tetsuo a scuzzy, "should we really be watching this?" quality, bolstered by some genuinely impressive practical effects work.

Tetsuo hasn't much interest in a watertight narrative, but its singular exploration of the fragility of the human form makes for one of the most fearlessly bats**t contributions ever made to the horror genre.
