10 Typecast Actors That Proved Everyone Wrong

2. Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman is the ultimate actor as far as wise characters are concerned. The examples of Freeman's credits in such roles are so ridiculously long that there's little point in listing them all here. It's a typecast that Freeman must have little concern in playing, because he continues to perform them to this day. Whether he's playing the experienced, slightly disillusioned cop in films like Along Came A Spider and Se7en, or just playing a straight-up man of wisdom and experience in films like The Shawshank Redemption, there's certainly no shortage of examples that have made the man famous. Freeman's voice is so recognisable that some of his film credits are purely for narration, i.e. War Of The Worlds. Heck, the guy even played God in Bruce Almighty - it's tough to get any wiser than that. Typecast-Breaking Roles: Wanted, Lucky Number Slevin and Chain Reaction have all cast Freeman in the role of villain. While all of those examples are slightly one-dimensional in nature, they all provide proof that Freeman can play convincing (if slightly bland) characters that have little to no redeeming features.
