4. Helena Bonham Carter - The Eccentric
We can count on one hand the times that we've seen Helena Bonham Carter in a movie where she wasn't doing one of two things: playing a wildly eccentric woman, and starring in her husband Tim Burton's famously bizarre films. It's almost shocking when you see her in movies like The King's Speech, where she plays the Queen Mum, a role which isn't exactly your typical monarch, but is still miles closer to normal than Bonham Carter usually gets. Miss Havisham in Great Expectations, Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter, The Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland -- they're all good performances, to be sure, but they're also incredibly similar. Wherever we see Helena Bonham Carter in film, it's a pretty safe bet to say that she will probably a crazy lady with flashing eyes and out of control hair. Part of this has to be down to convenience: when your husband is one of the most famous directors in the world, and he creates roles that are tailor-made for you, obviously you're going to do his films. But when we do see flashes of a less over the top character, it makes us that she would take those kind of roles more often, because she's probably one of the most talented actresses who sticks to playing the same character over and over again.
