I'm not the world's biggest
Pirates of the Caribbean fan, because c'mon, it's
Pirates of the Caribbean, and those last two movies were pretty wretched. Still, I invested what felt like fifty hours of my time into these stories, so the least that Disney or Gore Verbinski or whoever was on script duties here could have done is resolve the main love story. I mean, this isn't
Roman Holiday. It's a Disney movie about some fun pirates. Just give us some closure, damn it, and stop trying to make everything so dramatic all the time - it's super annoying. That's to say,
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End decides to just leave the romantic relationship between Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan on an ambiguous and rather depressing note. She has his heart in a box, he's the new Davy Jones. They have a kid now. They can't be together. I get that part. But what happened after that? Why are we leaving these characters on such a bizarrely bleak and ill-judged cliffhanger? Does Will find a way to defy this horrific new system? Is he just going to accept the fact that he can only see her once every 10 years?
