10 Unanswered Questions From The Amazing Spider-Man Franchise
2. What Was The Deal With Richard And Mary Parker?
Mary Parker clearly died in that plane crash, but an alternate scene included on the Blu-ray expected moviegoers to buy into Richard somehow surviving and hiding for all those years. That being cut makes it hard to say whether there were plans for him to appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but the negative reaction to him bioengineering it so Peter could get his powers was already bad enough without resurrecting him on top of that. How a scientist could afford to create an underground bunker in New York City with a very complicated entry mechanic is also never addressed, but the bigger question here is why this series put such an emphasis on Peter Parker's parents in the first place. Was there some sort of big reveal coming? Did Richard know that being bitten by a random spider would somehow trigger superpowers? Convoluted nonsense.
