7. Tom Cruise's Testy Relationship With Insurance Companies

Tom Cruise's commitment to filming increasingly dangerous stunts has been hailed as both pushing the boundaries of cinematic action and incredibly stupid, depending on what side of the divide one falls on. However, one camp that is certainly unimpressed with Cruise's daredevil antics is the insurance company tasked to work on the latest M:I franchise.

Mission Impossible 2 saw the franchise' star lie to the movie's insurance company, and told them that the stunt team would handle the vast majority of the film's stunts. In reality, Cruise did 95 percent of the stunts seen in the final product, a fact that greatly disturbed John Woo, the film's director.

Several years later, during the filming of Ghost Protocol's Burj Khalifa's sequence, Cruise decided to fire the film's initial insurance company due to their inability to insure the set-piece's production process, a fact that almost halted its filming and eventual inclusion into the final product. Cruise's commitment to realism may be considered impressive, but it is clear it causes the film's production staff moments of pause during the more daring sequences.
